Danny Dixon - 2019/20 Player Coach
Ahead of this season I just thought I'd introduce myself to all of the Aquinas cricket family.
My name is Danny and I’m going to be the player/coach for Aquinas College this upcoming 2019/2020 cricket season. I am 24 years old and a recent graduate from the University of Manchester in the UK and have been playing cricket at my local club Blackpool CC for the best part of 14 years. In that time, I captained our junior teams from under 13’s right through until under 19’s, along with some senior cricket too. A job role I loved. I also began playing senior cricket from 12 then moved through the teams, and proudly made my 1st XI debut opening the batting at 15. Through study and life itself, I have predominately played most of my senior cricket in the clubs 2nd XI cricket in the adult division (with Sam Owen who many of you know). I have been involved in the development of junior players throughout my young career, which makes me excited to help Aquinas cricket in any way I can.
Paul and Sam have told me plenty about the school's cricket on which I will look to build on (Ill hopefully add some runs and a few wickets too).
I will be leading the sessions after school, but will also be on hand to help any small groups or individual sessions those wanting it, please do not hesitate to ask.
I arrive in Tauranga next Monday (23rd) and should be around at the winter session that evening to meet the boys. Can’t wait to the get started now in what hopefully will be a successful season for the club.
Look forward to meeting you all.
